Otsego’s Limes scores 41 in victory: School record helps to sink Genoa; Lake, Rossford post league wins

Otsego 93, Genoa 67

TONTOGANY — Otsego’s A.C. Limes broke the school record for points in a game as the senior poured in 41 in the Knights’ boys basketball win against Genoa on Thursday night.

Limes scored 10 in the first quarter, tallied 16 in the second, added 10 in the third, then set the record with five points in fourth. The previous record was 40 points and was held by two players: Duane Smoyer and Greg Asmus.

Limes also had 13 rebounds and six blocked shots.

John Thomas chipped in with 16 points for Otsego (10-1 overall, 5-0 Northern Buckeye Conference).

Jake Schimmig scored a team-high 14 points for Genoa (1-7, 0-5). Luke Rightnowar and Grant Adams each had 11, while Casey Gose added 10 for the Comets.

Lake 64, Woodmore 53

MILLBURY — Jared Rettig poured in 23 for the Flyers (10-1, 4-1 NBC) and Connor Bowen added 10.

The Wildcats (4-6, 2-3) were led by Jake Lewandowski with 13.

Rossford 43, Elmwood 39

Derek Mack scored a game-high 16 points for the Bulldogs in the home win. Mack also had six rebounds for Rossford (6-6, 4-1 NBC).

Zach Foster had 15 points and Mica Robinson added 13 for Elmwood (6-4, 2-3).

Eastwood 72, Fostoria 51

PEMBERVILLE — Jordan Faykosh scored 17 points, and Jake Schmeltz added 14 points and nine assists for the Eagles.

Dominque Fuller finished with a game-high 25 points for Fostoria (1-8, 0-5 NBC), which trailed Eastwood (3-8, 3-2) at halftime 37-25. Adonis Cousin added 12 points.

Fayette 43, Hilltop 25

WEST UNITY — Logan Franks propelled Fayette to the road win with 12 points, with Chandler Sanford adding 10. Tyler Cox registered nine blocks for Fayette (8-3, 4-0 Buckeye Border Conference).

Hilltop fell to 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the BBC.

Wayne Trace 39, Holgate 29

HOLGATE — Grady Gudakunst’s 15 points led Wayne Trace (8-1, 2-0) to a Green Meadows Conference road victory.

Holgate (5-7, 1-1), which led 18-15 at halftime, was led by Mitchell Gonzalez’s 14 points.

Washtenaw Christian 61, Monclova Christian 26

SALINE, Mich. — Monclova Christian got 13 points from Trevor Hester, but that wasn’t enough to prevent the loss. Washtenaw Christian led 33-7 at halftime.
