Eight area players have been selected to participate in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association’s annual North-South Classic, which will be held April 27 at Welcome Stadium in Dayton.
Picked to the North squad for the Division I-II-III game were Whitmer quarterback Nick Holley and defensive lineman Marquise Moore. Holley and Moore helped the Panthers to a 14-1 record and a state runner-up finish.
Also in the game will be Central Catholic tight end Keith Towbridge, who helped the 14-1 Irish win the Division II state championship.
The Irish were honored Tuesday at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Five area players will represent the North in the Division IV-V-VI, including two D-IV All-Ohio first-team picks from Northern Buckeye Conference champion Genoa — running back Kyle Nutter and offensive lineman Nick Keller.
Joining them on the squad will be Ottawa Hills placekicker/punter Michael Geiger, McComb receiver/back Jerry Brown, and Patrick Henry’s Jake Carrizales.
Napoleon’s Tory Strock was named as an assistant coach for the North for the Division I-II-III game.
McComb’s Kris Alge will serve as an assistant for the North in the Division IV-V-VI game.
