Panthers roll past Giants; Knights knock off Eagles

FREMONT — Whitmer used an 18-5 third-quarter advantage Friday night to pull away from Fremont Ross in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference boys basketball game.
The Panthers led 28-26 at halftime.
Ricardo Smith scored 21 points to lead the Panthers (17-5, 12-2) and Chris Boykin added 10. Whitmer finishes in second place behind St. John’s.
Alex Metcalf poured in 21 points to lead Fremont Ross (14-8, 7-7).
St. Francis 48, Clay 41
The Knights took the lead in the second half with a 16-9 third-quarter spurt.
Pat Szenderski pumped in a 15 points and Jay Snell scored 12 for St. Francis (3-19, 2-12).
Clay’s Pat Booth had 18 points for the Eagles (1-20, 0-14), who led 20-19 at the half.
Findlay 64,Lima Senior 52
FINDLAY — Michael Clark led the Trojans with 21 points, while Joseph Davidson added 19.
Austin Gutting had 13 for Findlay (14-8, 9-5).
Isiah Simpson topped Lima Senior (7-15, 4-10) with 11 points. Ruben Flowers added 10.

NAPOLEON — Jordan Lauf scored 43 points as the Wildcats rallied and won in overtime Friday night in Northern Lakes League boys basketball.
Napoleon (8-13, 3-11 NLL) got 15 points frm Blake Dunbar.
Matt Morrison scored 26 points for Southview (6-16, 3-11), which led 44-39 going into the fourth quarter. Nate Hall added 12 points.
Northview 59,Springfield 50
Connor Hartnett scored eight of his 26 points in the overtime period as host Northview prevailed.
The Wildcats (13-9, 7-7) outscored the Blue Devils 17-8 in the extra period.
Dilyn Good paced Springfield (14-7, 8-6) with 16 points, while Anthony Jones had 13.
Northview led 28-22 at halftime and 40-37 after the third quarter. But the Blue Devils held a 5-2 edge in the fourth to send the game to OT.
Perrysburg 75,Bowling Green 50
BOWLING GREEN — Shane Edwards scored 17 to lead the Yellow Jackets to a road victory.
Nick Moschetti tallied 14, Nate Patterson 14 and Matt Kaczinski 11 for Perrysburg (13-8, 9-5).
Vitto Brown paced the Bobcats (12-10, 9-5) with 19 and Andrew Herringshaw added 17.

Otsego falls but still champ; Knights take outright title as Eastwood rallies to edge Lake
Rossford 52, Otsego 49
TONTOGONY — Rossford outscored Otsego 10-7 in the fourth quarter Friday night to knock off Otsego.
Despite the loss, the Knights still clinched an outright Northern Buckeye Conference boys basketball championship as Lake fell to Eastwood.
It is the first outright title since Otsego (18-4, 12-2 NBC) won the Suburban Lakes League crown in 2001.
Mack Miller scored 18 points for Rossford (11-11, 9-5) and Derek Mack added 17. The Bulldogs led 27-26 at halftime, and it was tied at 42 after three quarters.
Ryan Smoyer paced Otsego with 15 points and A.C. Limes had 14.
Eastwood 61, Lake 60
PEMBERVILLE — Grant Peters hit a shot with five seconds left to cap a 21-9 run in the fourth quarter for Eastwood.
Lake (19-3, 11-3) missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer and a chance to share the NBC title with Otsego.
Jake Schmeltz scored 20 points to lead the Eagles (8-14, 8-6), while Kevin Sweeney had 17 and Steven Bradley 12.
Jared Rettig, Marcus Pierce, and Jayce Vancena each scored 16 points to lead the Flyers, who led 35-30 at halftime and 51-40 after the third quarter.
Elmwood 47,Woodmore 36
ELMORE — Zach Foster knocked down three 3-pointers to lead the Royals with 15 points.
Aaron Arnold added 12 for Elmwood (14-8, 8-6).
Matt Haar led Woodmore (9-13, 6-8) with 13 points and Jake Lewandowski added 12.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-7 lead after the first quarter, but the Royals rallied for a 19-16 edge at halftime.
Elmwood extended the lead to 33-23 after three quarters.
Fostoria 78, Genoa 69
GENOA — Rayshon Martin scored a 17 points as the Redmen jumped to a 41-28 halftime lead.
Dominque Fuller added 16 points and Adonis Cousin 14 for Fostoria (3-19, 2-12 NBC), which dominated the second quarter 27-15.
Casey Gose led Genoa (3-18, 0-14) with 18 points. Grant Adams added 14.

Eagles rout Rangersto seal outright crown
Toledo Christian 89, Northwood 46
Eric Cellier scored 24 points as Toledo Christian clinched an outright Toledo Area Athletic Conference boys basketball championship Friday night at Northwood.
The Eagles raced out to a 23-9 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Cordell Miller added 14 for the Eagles (20-2, 13-1 TAAC), while Josh Winzeler scored 12 and Melvin Thomas had 11.
Evan Perkins and John Segura paced Northwood (6-16, 1-11) with 10 points.
Ottawa Hills 62,Danbury 23
Geoff Beans paced Ottawa Hills (17-4, 12-2) with 24 points.
R.J. Coil scored 14 points while grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking eight shots for the Green Bears, who led 16-4 after the first quarter.
Danbury drops to 1-21 and 0-14.
Cardinal Stritch 49, Maumee Valley 36
Austin Adams had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals.
Robbie Bekier added 13 points for Stritch (12-10, 9-5).
David Brown led the Hawks (12-9, 6-8) with 13.

The Golden Bears took the road win with Tyler Ernsthausen leading the way with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Jordan Kreglow added 13 points and nine assists and Andy Burmeister 10 points for Gibsonburg(11-11, 8-6).
Emmanuel Christian (10-12, 5-9) was paced by Ryan Creech’s 20 points, with Bobby Behan contributing 16.

Archbold, Wauseon share championship

ARCHBOLD — Jay Miller scored 15 points Friday night as the Blue Streaks shared the Northwest Ohio Athletic League boys basketball championship with Wauseon.
It is the fourth consecutive title for Archbold (16-4, 7-1 NWOAL), which got 14 points from Taylor Price and 12 from Zeb Frank.
Cory Mossing paced Evergreen (16-6, 5-3) with 21 points, while Matt Brighton had 12 and Logan Pinkelman 10.
Wauseon 56, Bryan 47
BRYAN — Collin Bzovi scored 17 points as Wauseon wrapped up a share of the NWOAL title.
Michael Hammons added 11 for the Indians (13-9, 7-1), who led 25-16 at halftime then had 36-29 advantage after the third quarter.
Austin Schimmoeller paced Bryan (11-11, 6-2) with 16 points, while Austin Martin had 10.
Patrick Henry 50, Swanton 49
SWANTON — Jacob Carrizales stole an inbounds pass and made one free-throw after being fould with five seconds left to give Patrick Henry a dramatic win.
A.J. Wagner led the Patriots (2-18, 2-6) with 11. Rocky Robinson tallied 19 points for Swanton (8-14, 1-7) and Paul Kennedy added 16.
Liberty Center 53, Delta 50
DELTA — Liberty Center outscored Delta 16-10 in the fourth quarter to earn a close win.
Kaleb Pohlman paced the Tigers (9-12, 4-4) with 13 points and Kody Snyder added 12.
Micah Mohr scored 18 points for Delta (11-11, 4-4), while Scott Garlinger tallied 12.

Fremont St. Joseph 57, Carey 42
CAREY — Fremont St. Joseph won Friday night to finish in a three-way tie for the Midland Athletic League boys basketball title with Old Fort and New Riegel.
Zack Yeckley scored 13 points and Hunter Harrison added 11 points for the Streaks (17-5, 10-1), who raced out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter.
Justin Meek paced Carey (15-7, 10-1) with 15 points and Jared Wentling scored 11.
Oak Harbor 61, Sandusky St. Mary 48
OAK HARBOR — A.J. Cecil poured in 21 points as Oak Harbor cruised in a Sandusky Bay Conference game.
Greg Haar added 18 for the Rockets (11-10) and Austin Weigand had 12.
