Toledo Christian rolls into district; Ottawa Hills wins; BG edges Napoleon; Otsego, Evergreen advance

Division IV

Toledo Christian 54,Cardinal Stritch 33

PEMBERVILLE — Toledo Christian used a dominant second half to pull away in a Division IV boys basketball sectional championship Friday night.

Melvin Thomas had 16 points to lead the Eagles, who had a 37-19 edge in the second half. Eric Cellier added 14.

Toledo Christian was 10 of 10 from the free-throw line in the final quarter.

Austin Adams scored 16 point for Cardinal Stritch.

Ottawa Hills 64, Fremont St. Joseph 48

PEMBERVILLE — Ottawa Hills raced out to a 31-20 halftime lead, then went 14 for 16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to put the game to rest.

Geoff Beans led the Green Bears with 22 points and Lucas Janowicz tallied 18.

Connor Dudley and Ryan Williams each scored 11 points to pace Fremont St. Joseph.

Fayette 45, North Central 34

BRYAN — Chandler Sanford scored 14 points and Zayne Colegrove added 12 to lead Fayette.

The Eagles (18-5) led 16-11 at halftime and outscored North Central 11-6 in the third quarter.

Jalen Dancer paced North Central (10-14) with 16 points.

Columbus Grove 49, McComb 40

OTTAWA — Columbus Grove took a 24-18 lead into halftime and outscored McComb 25-22 in the second half.

Will Vorhees scored 21 points to lead the Bulldogs. Jace Darbyshire added 13.

Dalton Buck knocked down four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points for McComb.

Pettisville 60, Stryker 49

BRYAN — Tanner Rufenacht poured in 23 points and David Reyes added 11 and Jacob Valdez 10 for the Blackbirds.

The Panthers couldn’t overcome a 32-19 halftime deficit. Parker Ruffer had 16 and Luke Graber chipped in with 13.

Antwerp 29, Holgate 24

PAULDING — Noah Ganger scored 12 points to lead Antwerp in a low-scoring contest.

The Archers led 10-6 at halftime and 16-11 after three quarters.

Landon Grim paced Holgate with 15 points.

 

Division II

Bowling Green 52,Napoleon 48

SWANTON — Bowling Green led 27-23 at halftime and hung on to win.

Vitto Brown paced the Bobcats with 18 points, Andrew Herringshaw had 16 and Evan Gardner 10.

Jordan Lauf scored 26 to lead Napoleon and Anson Lankenau added 11.

Otsego 53, Defiance 44

SWANTON — Otsego outscored Defiance 33-26 after halftime to ensure the win.

Tommy Rodgers and Ryan Smoyer each scored 17 points to lead the Knights.

Grey Gullim had 16 points for Defiance, while Jordan Tobias scored 10.

Scott 50, Clyde 47

At Clay, Scott led by four at halftime and hung on for the win after being outscored 25-24 during the second half.

Chris Darrington led the Bulldogs with 15 points and Bryson Collins added 13.

Derek Gray tallied 21 points to pace Clyde.

 

Division III

Evergreen 65,Liberty Center 53

TONTOGANY — Cory Mossing and Matt Brighton each scored 20 points for the Vikings, who led 34-21 at halfitme. Dylan Henricks added 11.

Kaleb Pohlman had 15 and Logan Meyer 14 for the Tigers.

Archbold 59, Swanton 57

TONTOGANY — Archbold withstood a late rally by Swanton.

The Bulldogs trailed 41-32 after three quarters, then outscored Archbold 25-18 during the fourth quarter.

Taylor Price paced Archbold with 18 points and Jay Miller and Zeb Franke added 12 each.

Rocky Robinson scored 18 points to lead Swanton. Paul Kennedy scored 14 and Dylan Verdell added 10.


OSCAA

Emmanuel Christian 42, Ohio Valley Christian 29

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Ryan Creech scored 19 points to lead Emmanuel Christian in a Ohio Christian School Athletic Association state semifinal win.

Bobby Behan had 11 for the Warriors (13-12), who play in the final today at 4 p.m.

T.G. Miller paced Ohio Valley Christian (13-9) with 17 points.
