Cougars prevail, beat Green Bears in OT

Southview 58, Ottawa Hills 55

The Cougars (3-0) won at home as Matt Morrison scored 24 points, including four key free throws in overtime. Leon Eggleston added 15 for Southview, who made 8 of 10 foul shots in the extra period.

Geoff Beans tossed in 24 points for the Green Bears, who suffered their first defeat against a single loss. R.J. Coil added 11 points. Ottawa Hills made 20 of 22 free throws.

 

Pickerington Central 90, Rogers 56

COLUMBUS — Connor Kern scored 22 points for Pickerington Central as Rogers lost its opener in the Clark Kellogg Tip-Off Classic at Ohio Dominican College.

Brandon Austin paced Rogers with 17 points.

 

Mansfield Senior 66, Scott 53

MANSFIELD — The Tygers (2-0) won as Robert Jones and Maridan James scored 13 points.

Chris Darrington scored 21, and Chris Harris added 15 for the Bulldogs (1-2).

 

Delta 68, Swanton 39

SWANTON — Justin Callahan scored 17 points, Ethan Edwards added 15, and Noah Munger had 11 as Delta cruised.

Bryce McComb tallied 20 to lead Swanton.

 

Fremont Ross 58, Start 36

FREMONT — Drew Solander’s 15 points spurred the Little Giants (2-0). Jack Gedeon added 13 and Jalen Slick 10 for Ross.

James Adams scored 13 points to pace Start.

 

Vanlue 52, N. Baltimore 36

VANLUE — Jacob Coldren scored 19 points and Austin Smith added 14 for Vanlue.

Jacob Frost paced North Baltimore with nine points.

 

Lake 70, Oak Harbor 44

MILLBURY — Connor Bowen led the Flyers (3-0) with 21 points, Jared Rettig added 16, Todd Walters 11, and Cody Witt 10.

For the Rockets (0-2), Deshawn Johnson scored 10.

 

Archbold 60, Kalida 50

ARCHBOLD — Luke Fisher netted 17 points and was aided by Evan Wyse and Tyson Schnitkey with 12 for the Blue Streaks (2-0).

 

Northview 77, Eastwood 66

The Wildcats (1-2) used 20 points from Aerin West, 18 by Mohamed Afifi, and 16 from Adam Downing to win at home.

Jake Schmeltz paced the Eagles (1-2) with 26 points while Stephen Bradley added 18.

 

Girls

Perrysburg 65, Clay 51

The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-0, wearing down the home team with a 24-11 edge on free throws.

Sarah Baer led the way with 26 points, while teammate Allex Brown finished with 19. The Eagles (2-2) put three players in double figures, paced by Haley Hess’ 16 points. Morgan Connor had 15, and Hannah Hess added 12 points.

 

Delta 61, Ottawa Hills 46

The Panthers won on the road as Brigan Wymer had 25 points, Morgan Mattimore 15, and Bri Raab 12.

Michelle Healy topped the Green Bears with 12 points.

 

Waite 65, Dayton Meadowdale 49

DAYTON — The Indians improved to 3-1 behind the scoring of Taylor Works (20), Ramiah Henry (14), Yatiah Caldwell (14), and Latesha Craig (13). Works also had 13 boards.

 

Springfield 56, Woodward 50

Natalie Yoder poured in 25 points to lead the Blue Devils (2-2).

K'Shawna Barnett led Woodward (1-3) with 22 points. Cierra Stamper had 13 and Robin Dowdy 11.

 

Vanlue 47, Maumee Valley 24

Haley Bonham scored 15 points and Kate Climer added 14 for Vanlue (3-3).

Ashley Taylor scored 10 to lead Maumee Valley (0-3).

 

Tiffin Calvert 53, Cardinal Stritch 30

Kate Brickner scored 18 points as Tiffin Calvert (3-0) won on the road. Lindsey Bickley added 10 points.

Kali Hardy paced Cardinal Stritch (1-2) with 12 points.

 

Oak Harbor 50, Huron 32

OAK HARBOR — Andrea Cecil poured in 19 points and was aided by Athena Eli with 10 for the Rockets.

For the Tigers, Ashley Myers had nine.

 

Port Clinton 57, Woodmore 49

PORT CLINTON — Port Clinton stayed unbeaten behind 13 points from Nathan Stubblefield and Dylan Webb.

Stone Scott added 10 points for the Redskins (3-0).

Drew Lewandowski paced Woodmore (0-3) with 14 points. Grant Weiss had 13.

 

Evergreen 50, Otsego 47

TONTOGANY — Logan Pinkelman had eight of his game-high 16 points in the fourth, when the Vikings (3-0) outscored Otsego 22-14.

The Knights (2-1) missed a shot at the buzzer trying to force OT. They were led by John Myers’ 21 points.
