Builder Gary Tarsha has created a home on a par with some of his larger, more upscale homes. The quality of materials, the workmanship, and the attention to detail are all very impressive, particularly at this price point. Come and see the home at 4734 Middle Branch in Crosscreek Woods in Monclova Township, before it s snapped up.

So many homes built today are so outsized that they nearly dwarf the inhabitants, not to mention the furniture. Ceilings soar, bathrooms are large enough to hold parties in, and the home, tucked behind the garage, takes up the entire lot.

This week s featured home, located at 4734 Middle Branch in the Crosscreek Woods development in Monclova Township, is spacious. In some rooms, the ceilings soar. The master bath is large, although one probably wouldn t invite the neighbors in. But there is something different about this home.

Nothing seems out of scale. The home is wonderfully proportioned, and situated on but not dwarfed by a large, 200-foot-deep lot. The exterior of the home is brick and vinyl, and yes, behind that front door with sidelights and transom, there is a soaring foyer.

This foyer, though, is a bit different. First of all, it s wide, or at least it appears wider due to the open formal dining room to the left. The foyer has lovely hardwood floors, and angled walls that make you feel as if there is something very intriguing just around the corner. And in this house, there usually is.

The dining room is a good example. Open on two walls, it has a unique paint treatment and a wrought iron chandelier. Across the foyer, behind French doors, there is a room that can be used as a parlor or an office. Both of these rooms have crown molding.

Walk straight through the foyer to the family room, or turn left down a short hall. This hall takes you to the guest closet, a half bath, the two and a half car garage, and the utility room. This room is well appointed with a sink and cabinets, and a convenient wire shelf. Like the bathrooms, the utility room has a tiled floor. The kitchen is nearby.

This kitchen is ideal for any chef, with an island in the center that can be used for prep, or with bar stools, as a snack bar. Hardwood floors, continued from the foyer, make standing here a pleasure. Light-colored granite countertops display veins of red, with sparkly flecks that give the stone depth; a tile backsplash in tan and brick red complements these colors. The maple cabinets sport crown molding, and a lighted pantry provides additional storage.

The kitchen s breakfast area bows out to the sliding double doors; they are flanked by mullioned windows, which make this space light and bright. A brushed nickel light overhead echoes the look of the kitchen fixtures and hardware. Outside is a curvy poured concrete patio.

Just beyond the breakfast is the family room. The crowning glory of this room is the beautiful fireplace with brick hearth and surround. Custom cabinets in white, with arched tops, are on either side of the fireplace, and just opposite is built-in shelving.

From the family room, turn to the right and you ll find the steps to the full basement, which is plumbed for a half bath. Past the basement steps is the stairway to the second floor. The landing is topped by a large mullioned window, which offers more light to the stairwell and foyer. A wood and wrought iron decorative railing is another upscale touch.

Upstairs, the two bedrooms on the right side of the hall share a Jack n Jill bathroom. Each of these bedrooms have double closets, and the bathroom boasts a dual vanity and separate bath and water closet.

To the left is a large bedroom which would make an ideal guest suite but why save it just for guests? The vaulted ceiling here adds real character to this suite, and the double closet and full bath with walk-in shower make it very convenient. There is an alcove built into one wall the perfect place for a television.

And then there s the master suite. A very deep tray ceiling adds height to this spacious room, and a paddle fan with light creates a lovely breeze. A generous window overlooks the back yard.

The master bath has tile floors and a double vanity with a cultured marble top. The same cultured marble is found surrounding the jetted tub, which is nestled comfortably under a mullioned window. Nickel and brass fixtures add a quiet note of elegance to this room. Nearby is a walk-in closet, with access to the attic, and a walk-in shower and water closet are separated by a privacy door.

This home is casually elegant, and very livable. Rooms are spacious, but not overwhelming. It would be very easy to call this house home.
