Craftsmanship is the hallmark of a Decker-built home. This week we feature two beautiful properties from the award-winning builder one of them a 2006 Parade home. Each features so many unique touches you ll have a hard time deciding which one to make your own.

Decker Homes is a full-service semi-custom home builder with a gift for the unique. Recognized for their award-winning quality construction, Decker offers architecture with one-of-a-kind flair something that is clearly evident in the two model homes currently available in the Deer Valley subdivision in Monclova Township.

Deer Valley is the 2004 HBA Development of the Year, and the quality of its homes is one reason why. Located at 4019 Secluded Ravine Court, the interior of the primary home is in the finishing stage, so photos from the Parade home next door (4029 Secluded Ravine) have been featured with this article to illustrate Decker s traditional stamp of quality.

Let s start with a leisurely stroll up the gently sloping walkway a handicap accessibility feature that is an option in every Decker home. An arch-covered porch welcomes you inside, where the attention to detail is immediately visible underfoot. A caramel-colored Bruce maple hardwood floor, inset with tiles laid out in an octagonal pattern, highlights the foyer.

The eye is drawn next to the stunning floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace directly ahead in the great room. The distinctive buff-colored slate brickwork has all the earmarks of a custom feature, with large square tiles surrounding the firebox, offset by an intricate herringbone weave of smaller tiles above. Large transom-topped windows fill the remaining portions of the wall, completing this dramatic architectural statement.

To the right of the great room is the arched entry to the combination sunroom-kitchen. Again, warm wood dominates. In addition to the caramel-colored hardwood floors, the warm tones extend upward to the honey-colored cabinets by Ultracraft Visions. In contrast, a chef-loving stainless steel range hood adds cool sophistication, as do the glass-fronted cabinets. Grass-cloth wall coverings are another stylish choice. And of course, what would a modern kitchen be without a center island? This one is especially lovely, featuring a rust-toned quartz countertop by Legacy Stone and eye-catching pendant lights. In the adjoining sunroom, a brushed nickel fan tops an airy vaulted ceiling, while patio doors lead to a curving concrete patio, perfect for al fresco dining.

A hallway off the kitchen and foyer leads to the north wing of the home. Here a lovely powder room with metallic wall treatment and pedestal sink makes guests feel like royalty. And a fully-outfitted laundry room features more of those fabulous honey-colored cabinets. At the end of the hall is a relaxing master suite. Here, a tray-and-cathedral ceiling provides impact while a ceiling fan stirs up cooling breezes. The adjoining bath has all the luxury accoutrements, including a double-sink vanity, large step-in shower and private water closet. The crowning touches, however, are the decadent corner soaking tub and fashion-loving walk-in closet.

In the south wing of the home are two additional bedrooms and another full bath, each with their own special touches: the tile floor in the bath is inset with mosaic diamonds, and the front bedroom is painted in extra-wide horizontal stripes in alternating shades of sage green. A Palladian window, vaulted ceiling and fan-light fixture make this an inviting space for a child or guest.

The quality continues downstairs as well. An expansive basement is plumbed for a third full bath, and the exterior walls have been semi-finished with stud construction and insulation. A window well with full-size glazing has also been added, allowing for plenty of natural light. The space cries out for a game corner, theater room or exercise center perhaps all three!

Other features include an on-demand tankless water heater and 92% ultra high efficiency Carrier heating and cooling system. Like all Decker constructions, this and the neighboring Parade home have been independently inspected by a qualified energy rater who has endorsed them as 100% Energy Star Certified Homes. That means they exceed the Ohio energy code by at least 30%.
