The Princeton, a split-level model by Wayne Homes, combines form and function beautifully. The model we visited is located just off I-75 in Cygnet, Ohio. Wayne Homes specializes in custom construction on your lot.

The Princeton has a variety of elevations from which to choose; the Cygnet model is a combination of their Legacy and Tradition styles. The exterior is brick and vinyl, with red brick and a keystone enhancing the palladian window, and deep red shutters highlighting the tan vinyl siding. The white front door is given a classic look, and the garage doors, with their high windows, give the appearance of carriage doors.

Enter into the living room. This traditional parlor includes a vaulted area over the arched window. A convenient closet awaits your guests coats.

Past the living room is the dining room. This area is sizable enough for a large dining table, as well as a china cabinet or curio. A small balcony overlooks the family room. The dining room is adjacent to the very large kitchen.

The U-shaped kitchen is a wonder, with beautiful maple cabinets hung at varying heights for visual interest. The recessed panel cabinet doors and soft finish, as well as the decorative metal hardware, are reminiscent of the Craftsmen style so popular today. A work island in the center of the room offers even more cabinet space. The countertop is in a soft gray laminate; on the island, it is edged in wood.

Also adjacent to the dining room is the sunroom. This space is aptly named it is flooded with light. Seven mullioned windows ring the room, and a sliding door leads outside. The vaulted ceiling with fan keeps this room nice and comfortable.

From the dining room, walk down seven steps to the spacious family room. There s plenty of space here for a large screen TV, a game table and more. The door to the partial basement is located here.

Off the family room is an all-purpose room. Extensive cabinets make it great for storage. A work island is ideal for wrapping gifts or folding clothes. The washer and dryer are conveniently located here. There is also space for a computer and crafts. With its close proximity to the two-car garage, it would even make an ideal mudroom.

From the dining room, walk up six steps to the upper level of the home. A full bath is to the left. The maple vanity here echoes the look of the kitchen cabinetry. To the right are two bedrooms, both with double closets. Ahead and to the left is the owners retreat.
