The modern floor plan is open, with one room leading seamlessly into the next often without any boundary between the two at all. It looks good, and is perfect for entertaining. But how do you get time to yourself with so few private spaces?

The ranch home at 11 Hidden Village Lane, in a new neighborhood developed by Village Building Company, LTD., has the answer. Yes, there are large rooms with high ceilings that open into each other. But there are also smaller, out of the way places where one can have a private conversation.

The exterior of the home is brick with taupe vinyl and deep gray shutters. A poured concrete walkway leads past the landscaping to the covered front porch. Inside, the foyer has beautiful maple floors and a convenient closet for guests coats.

Ahead is the great room. A tall vaulted ceiling marks this as a room of distinction. In one corner, a gas fireplace features a beautiful maple surround.

To the right is the kitchen. This kitchen is wonderfully spacious, with room enough for an entire family of cooks. Homecrest maple cabinets with crown molding hang above a Wilsonart laminate counter. Deep drawers and a lazy Susan provide lots of storage space, and stylish black and stainless appliances by GE -- including a dishwasher, range and built-in microwave -- get the job done. A peninsula snack bar offers a place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of toast in the morning.

Opposite the snack bar is the dining area, with a lovely chandelier in oil rubbed bronze. Beyond this, French doors lead to the sunroom, a perfect place for enjoying the sunshine pouring through the large windows. A vaulted ceiling here helps set this private space apart. Sliding doors lead to the poured concrete patio and the ample backyard.

A back hall off the kitchen leads to a laundry room, a double closet, and the two-car garage. The garage features pull-down stairs to attic storage.

On the other side of the home, away from gathering rooms, are the bedrooms. The master bedroom is on the right. The room is large, with a walk-in closet directly off the bedroom. The master bath includes a wonderful jetted garden tub beneath a glass block window perfect for allowing sunlight in while providing complete privacy. A white tile surround gives it a very clean look.

Nearby is the double vanity in maple with a cultured marble top. A step-in shower with two seats is very convenient.

Two secondary bedrooms each have sizeable double closets. They share a hall bath and a linen closet.
