HBA members strive for the highest standards

There s something about a new car. There s that new car smell. There are the features you ve never had in a car before, whether they are heated seats or a satellite radio or even just a CD player. It s special, and it s yours.

Multiply that feeling by a factor of 10, at least, and you ll know what it s like to have a custom-built home.

The features you wanted are there: a master bathroom you don t have to share with anyone else. A basement theater room. The granite and stainless kitchen. The dining room in just the right shade of blue. It s special because you and your builder made it that way.

Of course, just as you want to know that your new car is going to run each time you turn the key, you need to be assured that your home is well-built. And that s where the HBA comes in.

What is the HBA?

The Home Builders Association of Greater Toledo is an association of homebuilders and industry related businesses. It is composed of approximately 600 member companies who believe that home ownership should be within the reach of every American family. Chartered in 1943, the organization is affiliated with the National Home Builders Association (www.nahb.org) and the Ohio Home Builders Association (www.ohiohba.com).

The HBA of Greater Toledo is an active group dedicated to promoting and enhancing the professionalism of the building and associated industries in Northwest Ohio. This goal is achieved through strong support and representation of the industry in both the government and private sectors.

The HBA of Greater Toledo is a nonprofit association governed by a body of elected directors. Individuals from the entire membership act as directors for the HBA. These members are responsible for the direction and success of the association. But, of course, they do not do it alone. A professional full-time staff performs the day-to-day business.

How Can The HBA Help Consumers? Why Should You Work With An HBA Member?

There are numerous advantages in buying a home from an HBA Builder, or products/services from an HBA Associate Member:

HBA Members are on the cutting edge of their industry. They stay current on the latest changes in products, technology, building codes/regulations, legislation and consumer preferences.

HBA Members promote and encourage the highest level of ethics and maintain the highest standards of personal and business conduct within the industry.

HBA Members reject companies that do not meet our high standards or do not subscribe to our Code of Ethics.

HBA Members live, work and play in our community and have a stake in its quality of life. In 2008, HBA Members participated in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, built five home in seven days during the Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build and came together to help a fellow member in need of a home addition due to an unforeseen medical situation.

HBA Members, as the Voice of the Housing Industry, ensure that the American Dream of home ownership stays within the reach of the greatest possible number of people. If you are thinking of building, remodeling or purchasing a home or any related products/services, be sure to ask the people you are talking to if they are an HBA Member. It will make a difference in your life.

HBA Events

The HBA puts on two major public events every year. The Parade of Homes, held in the fall, is an opportunity for HBA builder members to showcase their homes to the public.

The HBA will host the House & Home Show February 20 through 22 at the Seagate Convention Centre. This informative show allows consumers to learn about a variety of products and services available for building or remodeling a home, all under one roof.
