  • Noted architect Mies van der Rohe said, God is in the details. In other words, it is through the small details that we will find perfection.

With their attention to detail, Kopf Builders has come very, very close to perfection in Harbor s Edge. These luxurious townhomes would have been remarkable simply for their location across from the Catawba Island Club on the shores of Lake Erie, and surrounding the club s well-manicured golf course but with custom touches throughout, they are nothing short of spectacular.

Our featured home is the model home for Harbor s Edge. Located at 4705 Tradewinds Drive, it practically defines gracious living.

The front door with transom and sidelights opens to a beautiful home with high ceilings and an oak engineered floor in a dark finish. A powder room and guest closet are available nearby.

To the left, the kitchen is a work of art, with a highly patterned granite countertop and off white cabinets with an antique finish and crown molding. A peninsula countertop offers a place for a snack or the morning coffee. Stainless appliances add a gleam of silver to the black and white kitchen.

The garage two cars and a golf cart port and a laundry room are located off the kitchen.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room. The walls are covered in white wainscoting below and matte black paint above for a dramatic look, emphasized by and antique-looking chandelier.

The great room practically defines the term. A stone fireplace rises to the second story of the home, broken only by the custom made mantle in the center. Flick a switch to light the fire on chilly nights, or relax in front of the fireplace while you watch your flat screen television the wiring is already in place. Large windows flank the fireplace at eye level and above, allowing sunlight to flood the space.

The sunroom is next, distinctive with its vaulted ceiling trimmed in beadboard and beams. Large windows ring the room, and a sliding door leads to the patio. Enjoy grilling out here, or sit and sip a cool beverage while watching the golfers.

The master bedroom, located on the first floor, has large windows looking out over the patio and to the golf course beyond. The focal point of this room, however, is the alcove at the head of the bed. Made to take the place of a headboard, it sets this room apart. A beadboard ceiling treatment also creates visual interest.

A dressing area off the bedroom includes a large walk-in closet and a smaller double closet. The master bath has a classic black and white tile floor; the pattern is repeated in the trim of the step-in shower. A maple double vanity is topped with black granite; brushed nickel fixtures here and on the deep soaking tub shine.

A staircase rises to the second floor with an oak railing and white balustrades. At the top, a sitting area features a custom built bookcase. Enjoy quiet time here, or move your computer upstairs and enjoy a home office with a view.

Two bedrooms are located on this floor. The first is a second master bedroom, with its own ensuite bath. Hand-fitted beadboard paneling here creates another faux headboard, and large windows overlook the golf course. Two walk-in closets grace this suite; the first offers access to the attic. The bath features a large shower and a wide single vanity with a granite countertop.

The second bedroom has been cleverly designed as a children s room. Custom-built beds resemble small boats, and flags become valances across the windows. This bedroom also has access to its own bath, with a tub/shower combination and granite-topped vanity.

All modern conveniences have been engineered into this stunning home. The difference between this and so many other newly constructed homes is that it has been finished with Kopf s own brand of Old World craftsmanship, from custom-fit beadboard panels to the hand-finished fireplace mantle.

Because, after all, God is in the details.
