  • The HBA of Greater Toledo has a new charitable project, the President's Home. Located in Lakeside Villas at Fallen Timbers off Monclova Road, net proceeds from the sale of the home will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.

The lucky buyer will enjoy a beautiful new home with features that boost its value considerably – and your pleasure in living here.

The home, built through a team effort of HOJ Development, Inc., McCarthy Builders, Inc. and Michael Development, Ltd., is Energy Star rated, meaning that it meets strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. government.

In The President's Home, that efficiency is gained through the use of R-50 Owens Corning insulation in the attic and R-21 in the walls, an 80 gallon solar heated water system, Low E argon gas Andersen windows, and Energy Star rated appliances.

And did we mention that the home is gorgeous, too?

The exterior is tan siding with burgundy shutters. Cedar shake – here, in sturdy vinyl -- graces the peak, with white wood pillars. Stone skirting and carriage house style garage doors complete the picture.

A poured walkway rises to meet the front door. There are no steps to the home, and the doorways are wide enough for a wheelchair to pass through easily.

The foyer is wide, with white woodwork and satin nickel hardware. The floor looks like a low-gloss pine or cedar, but it is really a recycled rubber product that washes easily and holds up beautifully in high traffic areas.

To the left is a bedroom, shown here as an office. A double closet provides storage. To the right is the door to the two-car garage. Behind another door is the staircase to the partial basement. Another door off the foyer belongs to a guest closet.

Off the foyer to the right is a short hall that leads to a full bath and another bedroom. The bath boasts maple cabinets topped by marble, and chrome fixtures. The bedroom has a deep double closet.

The great room is a wide open space encompassing the kitchen, dining and living areas. The kitchen has maple cabinets with crown molding and granite countertops. A large island is home to the double sink, and includes a snack bar with seating for four. A pantry in the kitchen is very deep for extra storage, and a laundry room nearby has hookups for your washer and dryer, as well as a convenient sink and cabinets for storing your soaps.

The living room's impressive fireplace has a stone surround that rises to the ceiling. The vaulted ceiling adds space and drama to the room, and a ceiling fan makes it more comfortable. Nearby, the dining area is lit by a satin nickel chandelier. Beyond it is a sitting room, a perfect place for quiet conversation. A door here leads to the raised concrete patio. Outdoor speakers here let you enjoy this home's whole house sound even when you're outdoors.

The master bedroom is just off the living room and also has a door to the patio. The ensuite master bath has ceramic tile floor. The master bath includes a shower-tub combination, a walk-in closet, and a double raised vanity with a marble top.

HOJ Development, Inc., McCarthy Builders and Michael Development Ltd. have created a beautiful, energy-efficient home that will be a dream to live in. Best of all, proceeds from the sales of this home will help makes wishes come true for children in our area who face life-threatening illnesses.

The HBA President's Home is located at 4638 Lakeside Drive in Lakeside Villas at Fallen Timbers in Monclova. It will be open for a sneak peek before the HBA Parade of Homes this Sunday, September 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and throughout the HBA Parade, beginning September 25.
