Autumn's jewel tones shine on the lakeshore in shades of ruby, amethyst, aventurine green and brilliant gold. The air is crisp as an apple, and on sunny days, golf courses still beckon – with more available tee times. Cool nights are perfect for cuddling in front of a roaring fire.

Lake Erie in autumn is surprisingly active. The ferries are still making their trips to the islands, where shopping is a more leisurely experience. The wineries are open, and with fewer tourists, there is more time to sit and enjoy a glass.

Live at Harbor's Edge by Kopf Builders and be on vacation, year-round. Adjacent to the Catawba Island Club and a short walk to the shore, you are close to dining, entertainment, and natural beauty, all in abundance.

The model for Harbor's Edge by Kopf Builders, 4705 Tradewinds Drive, defines gracious living.

The front door with transom and sidelights opens to a beautiful home with high ceilings and an oak engineered floor in a dark finish. A powder room and guest closet are nearby.

To the left, the kitchen is a work of art, with a highly patterned granite countertop and off white cabinets. A peninsula countertop offers a place for a snack or the morning coffee. Stainless appliances gleam silver in the black and white kitchen.

The garage – two cars and a golf cart port – and a laundry room are located off the kitchen.

Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining room. White wainscoting and matte black walls create a dramatic look, emphasized by an antique-looking chandelier.

In the great room, a stone fireplace rises to the second story of the home, broken by a custom-made mantle. Flick a switch to light the fire, or relax in front of the fireplace while you watch your flat screen television – the wiring is already in place. Large windows flank the fireplace at eye level and above, allowing sunlight to flood the space.

The sunroom is next, distinctive with its vaulted ceiling trimmed in beadboard and beams. Large windows ring the room, and a sliding door leads to the patio. Enjoy grilling out here, or sit and sip a cool beverage while watching the golfers.

The master bedroom, located on the first floor, overlooks the patio and to the golf course beyond. The focal point of this room, however, is the alcove at the head of the bed. Made to take the place of a headboard, it sets this room apart. A beadboard ceiling treatment also creates visual interest.

A dressing area off the bedroom includes a large walk-in closet and a smaller double closet. The master bath has a classic black and white tile floor; the pattern is repeated in the trim of the step-in shower. A maple double vanity is topped with black granite; brushed nickel fixtures here and on the deep soaking tub shine.

A staircase, with an oak railing and white balustrades, rises to the second floor sitting area, featuring a custom-built bookcase. Enjoy quiet time here, or move your computer upstairs for a home office with a view.

Two bedrooms are located on this floor. The first is a second master bedroom, with its own ensuite bath. Hand-fitted beadboard paneling here creates another faux headboard, and large windows overlook the golf course. Two walk-in closets grace this suite; the first offers attic access. The bath features a large shower and a wide single vanity with a granite countertop.

The second bedroom has been cleverly designed as a children's room. Custom-built beds resemble small boats, and flags become valances across the windows. This bedroom also has access to its own bath, with a tub/shower combination and granite-topped vanity.
