This new, Craftsman-style elevation is a gorgeous architectural change to Schumacher's Oxford model. You'll love building with Schumacher – it's as easy as 1-2-3!

The “wow factor” is in full effect in Cygnet, Ohio, at Schumacher Homes' new model. This home is gorgeous, inside and out.

The model, Schumacher's Oxford D, also houses the company's Northwest Ohio Design Center. Building with Schumacher, as they say, is as easy as 1-2-3. The first step is to select a plan from the 181 they have available. The second step is to customize the plan – moving a wall, adding a room, or turning the garage – to your liking. Finally, when you price your plan, you will receive an itemized quote that shows you exactly where every dollar is being spent – there are no surprises..”

This model home showcases some of Schumacher's best work. The Craftsman style has been incorporated inside and out, from the shake, shingle and stone exterior to the extensive use of stone throughout the interior. The Prairie-style leaded glass door with sidelights opens to a handsome foyer, with hand-scraped walnut floors underfoot. To the left is the staircase to the second floor bonus room.

To the right is a lovely home office.

Mary Schumacher Becker, a vice president of Schumacher Homes, says, “So may people work from home. It's important to us to show a home used in the way people live.”

Beyond the foyer is a beautiful great room with a vaulted ceiling. The focal point of this room is an impressive woodburning fireplace with space above for your flat screen television, and a stone hearth below. Windows flank the fireplace, letting plenty of sunlight into the room.

To the left, the kitchen is where that “wow factor” is really felt. Warm maple cabinets by Merillat sport granite countertops. An oil-rubbed bronze faucet with an integrated pull-down sprayer is a stylish touch, and echoes the finish of the chandelier in the adjacent dining area..”

A stone archway leading to the sunroom, in turn, echoes the stonework on the exterior of the home. The vaulted ceiling is clad in attractive beadboard. The sunroom's many windows have Prairie-style mullions on the upper sections, with unadorned glass below, and a glass door leads to your deck or patio.

Off short hall at the back of the kitchen are a laundry room, stairs to the full basement, and access to the garage..”

At the opposite end of the home are the sleeping quarters. Elegant double doors lead to the first bedroom, the owners' retreat. A cathedral ceiling lends drama to the room.

The master bath has the feeling of a relaxing spa. A vessel sink graces a granite countertop; decorative tile adds detail to the large soaking tub. Rubbed bronze fixtures include a rainfall showerhead in the step-in shower. This area is rounded out by a large walk-in closet..”

Down the hall from this suite is another full bath. Cultured marble tops a maple vanity, with bronze fixtures.

The third bedroom is quite large, with a double closet providing ample storage.

The second floor is home to a bonus room, which could be used as a media and entertainment room, as it is shown in the model, or as an additional bedroom.

Schumacher Homes has built more than 6,000 homes since 1992, priced from the low 90s to $750,000. A family-owned company, they operate in 20 markets in 13 states. Because of their greater purchasing power, Schumacher is able to offer as “standard” what many other builders view as “options.” They are also able to offer a wider product depth – hence, the 181 floor plans – and greater customization.

“The response o the new model has been overwhelming,” says Ms. Becker. “Customers love seeing the latest in architectural design and colors.”

Each home is Energy Star rated, approved and certified, and each home comes with a 10-year warranty.

The Oxford D model home at the Schumacher center in Cygnet starts at $140,672. With the Craftsman elevation shown, it is priced at $153,672. The center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m., and is located at 6539 Dixie Highway, just off I-75.
