  • When people go to the HBA Parade of Homes, they go for a number of reasons.

They may be considering building a new home. They may simply be curious, interested in seeing the homes in a new development down the road. Or they may be searching for the next big “wow” in homebuilding.

Those stopping at 5749 Hamptons Drive in Monclova will not be disappointed. This luxury home by builder Josh Doyle is one of the largest, certainly one of the most imposing, and easily one of the most impressive homes in this year's very-impressive array.

This red brick Georgian Colonial rises three stories and encompasses 4,700 square feet. Black shutters grace every window, with keystones above the lower ones. A classic white portico shelters the stately front door.

Step inside, and the foyer is a light-filled atrium, with large windows in the dormers and above the front door. Cherry hardwood floors lead into the home and up the stairs; a beautiful staircase has balconies at the landing and at the second floor.

To the right is a wonderful formal dining room. Wide crown molding and graceful arched doorways set this room apart.

French doors to the left lead to an office and, beyond that, a private library. Deep plush carpeting adds to the luxurious feel of these two rooms.

Proceeding into the home and to the left is a space that has been dedicated as a music room, and is also wired for a home theater. This intimate space is adjacent to the great room.

Many homes have great rooms, but few could be actually classified as “great;” fewer still could be called “grand.” This home elevates the great room on a grand scale.

The beamed ceiling rises two stories; the beams create a pattern of squares on the ceiling that is echoed in the many windows ringing the room. Single paned square windows are positioned above double-hung windows to offer an incredible view and a feeling of openness. The room is anchored by a beautiful gas fireplace with a stone surround and a white mantel. It is wired for a flat screen television.

Off the great room is the large kitchen, with extra space set aside for informal dining.

Tall white cabinets encircle the kitchen, offering lots of storage space. Brushed nickel hardware and a slate blue room color are right in keeping with the colonial tenor of the home. An enormous, black granite-topped kitchen island serves as both a countertop and kitchen table. Stainless appliances include a large refrigerator, double ovens, a five-burner gas cooktop and range hood. Across the room are his and her built-in desks and two large pantries.

Off the kitchen is a mudroom with a slate tile floor and convenient built-in cubbies for jackets, bookbags, and snow boots. There is access here to the three car garage. A back staircase rises to the second floor and descends to the full basement. The basement is rough plumbed for a full kitchen and bath, and offers a full egress window.

The second floor is home to five bedrooms, including the stylish master suite and a convenient laundry room. The first bedroom has a private bath, and two share a Jack ‘n Jill bathroom. Each of the bedrooms boasts a walk-in closet.

The master suite, with its cathedral ceiling, is a romantic space sure to impress. The ensuite bath includes a jetted tub with a cherry surround. Unusual textured glass miniature subway tiles line the step-in shower with glass door, and a double vanity in cherry with a black granite top easily serves two. A large walk-in closet completes the space.

Despite the large size of this home, the homeowner can expect reasonably low energy bills. The heating and cooling is a state of the art geothermal system which provides low cost comfort – and practically free hot water. Mr. Doyle has been certified as a 100% Energy Star builder, meaning that he conforms to the highest energy-saving standards.

He is a second generation builder who strives to put the very best in each of the home he builds.

“If you can't do it and put the best quality materials in it, you shouldn't be playing with the one of the biggest investments the homeowner will ever make,” he says.

The home at 5749 Hamptons Drive in The Hamptons neighborhood of Monclova will be featured in the HBA Parade of Homes beginning this evening and running through September 26. The home can be replicated for under $100 per square foot. For more information, stop by during the Parade, or contact Josh Doyle at 419-705-1091.
