The Drake is growing.  This new neighborhood off Seaman Road in Oregon – surrounded by a white fence and just across from the newest wing of Pearson Park – boasts large lots and three ponds within its boundaries. All homes feature only natural materials on the front exterior for an upscale look.

This week’s featured home, 4801 South Teal Lane, is a stylish example of the homes to be found here. White trim pops against sage green cedar siding, red brick, and a black architectural roof. The covered front porch protects guests from the weather, and frames the front door, with its sidelights and transom, beautifully.

Inside, the high, vaulted ceiling of the foyer creates a dramatic entrance.  An oversized porcelain tile floor resembles a fine stone.

To the left, behind elegant French doors, is the home office. A beautiful coffered ceiling adds dimension and sophistication to the space. To the right of the foyer is the formal dining room. A tray ceiling and oil rubbed bronze chandelier are hallmarks of this sunny space.

Just beyond the office are the stairs to the full basement, illuminated with natural light from the window here.  The exterior walls are framed for future finish and there is rough plumbing for a bath on this level.

Past this staircase are the stairs to the second level, and beyond them, the great room. The two story great room truly makes a statement, with a tall wall of windows overlooking the extensive lot. A gas fireplace adds a lovely focal point to the room, with its white mantle and tile surround.

Open to the great room is the dine-in kitchen. Sliding doors lead to the covered patio – one of the most popular features of this home, says builder David Childers. The kitchen cabinets are by Toledo-based Lily Ann Cabinets in a rich espresso finish and topped with crown molding. A tile backsplash echoes the tile surround of the great room fireplace. Granite countertops and stainless appliances finish the space beautifully.

Between the kitchen and dining room is a perfectly placed butler’s pantry/wet bar.  Deep chocolate cabinets include a wine rack, and there is space here for a small refrigerator.

A back hall off the kitchen leads to a convenient mudroom area. Off this are a powder room, a large closet, the laundry room, and access to the two and a half car garage. Please note that the vanity in the powder room and the cabinets in the laundry room are each topped with thick granite.

The second floor is reached via a lovely staircase off the foyer. The upper landing overlooks both the foyer and the great room, and is wide enough to make its own small sitting area. Three bedrooms on this level have double closets. These bedrooms share a hall bath boasting a double raised vanity with a granite top and a private water closet and shower.

The fourth bedroom is the master suite, a beautiful room where every detail has been considered. A deep tray ceiling has uplighting behind crown molding for romantic appeal. The master bath is both efficient and charming, with his-and-hers vanities connected by a makeup table. A deep soaking tub is enclosed by ceramic tile, and a step-in shower has two seats. A linen closet and a large walk-in closet complete the space.

David Childers, builder of the home, has worked in real estate for 25 years, 12 of them as a builder.  He has created a warm, Energy Star rated family home in a delightful neighborhood. It is located in the Oregon City School district, rated Effective by the State of Ohio.
