This is not your grandma’s 1960s-style ranch – not by along shot.

This home from Saba Custom Builders in the Village ofBrookhaven in Perrysburg takes the traditional ranch and elevatesit to new heights, literally. Older ranch homes featured low, horizontal lines and smaller, shaded windows, often with one large picture window. In this home, windows are found in abundance: tall windows, walls of windows, transoms by themselves, and transoms atop walls of windows.

It makes 4366 Morgan Place, this week’s featured home, a very sunny place, indeed.

The exterior is vinyl siding in a soft gray color, with a red brick skirting. A poured concrete driveway and walkway lead to the home. A covered front porch shields visitors from inclement weather.

The front door is surrounded by windows – sidelights and a transom. Inside, the foyer has a tile floor and a bowl chandelier. An archway leads to the formal dining room, made more dramatic with its coffered ceiling.

Straight ahead is the great room. A wall of windows topped by transoms is a hightlight of this space, as is the corner fireplace. This gas fireplace with tile surround has an attractive white wood mantel and is wired above for your flat screen television. A ceiling fan in the great room keeps the space comfortable in the warmer months.

The kitchen is open to the great room, and wow, what a kitchen it is!

Maple cabinets with a chocolate glaze are topped by beautiful Santa Cecilia granite. There are so many broad surfaces here that the granite seems to stretch for miles: a large work island, a long countertop, an equally long snack bar, and more. A row of windows atop one section of cupboards floods the room with light, and a lighted pantry provides generous storage space. Home chefs will begin daydreaming about opening restaurants and bakeries.

There is space adjacent to the kitchen for informal dining, with a sliding glass door leading to the poured concrete patio outside. The door is topped by a transom, admitting even more light and making the space bright even on a dreary day.

A back hall off the kitchen leads to a mudroom, with lockers for jackets, bookbags and sports gear. A laundry room has a sink, a raised counter, and cabinets to store your laundrysupplies. A broom closet and a door to the two and a half car garage complete the space.

The staircase to the basement features a window over the stairwell for even more light.

On the opposite end of the home is the sleeping wing. The first bedroom boasts a vaulted ceiling and a double closet. The second bedroom has a tray ceiling, and it, too, has a double closet. These two rooms share a full hall bath with a granite-topped double vanity.

At the end of the hall, double doors lead to the owners’ retreat. A dressing area, including a large walk in closet and the master bath, are separated from the bedroom by a lovely arched doorway. The master bath features a vaulted ceiling, a step-in shower, a deep soaking tub, and a private water closet. A large glass block window admits light while maintaining privacy. A long double vanity, topped with granite, is convenient in the event the bathroom must be shared.

With its vaulted ceilings, open spaces, and so many windows, this home is a far cry from the ranch homes of yesteryear. It invites the sunshine – and you – to come inside. The home at 4366 Morgan Place is offered at $273,850, including lot, by Rick Prokup of The Danberry Company. Other floor plans are available from $259,850 to $305,850. The model is open this Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment by calling Rick Prokup at 419-345- 8311. The Village of Brookhaven is located off Five Point Road in Perrysburg.
