Long before the War Between the States, two states nearly went to war over a piece of property along the northern edge of Ohio. Although this has come to be known as the Toledo War, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to think they may have had Sylvania in mind as well.
With its charming downtown, good schools and lovely neighborhoods, Sylvania is a very popular place to live.
This week’s featured home is the Catalina model at 5341 Palisades Dr. in Sylvania.
The brick front includes attractive soldier coursing around the windows, and the covered front entrance keeps your visitors out of inclement weather. Surrounding the painted six-panel front door are beautiful etched glass sidelights and a clear transom. These windows allow plenty of light into your foyer, while maintaining your privacy.
The foyer is quite impressive. A large space, it is quite wide, with tall ceilings – a fitting entrance to this beautiful home.
To the left is a small powder room with an eye catching pedestal sink. To the right is a generously proportioned bedroom with two large double closets. A full bath is adjacent to the bedroom; the maple vanity here is topped with cultured marble. A guest closet is across from the bedroom.
Straight ahead is the spacious great room. This wide, open space is perfect for entertaining your guests. Large energy-efficient, Andersen windows overlook the back yard.
Off the great room to the right is the master suite. The bedroom, with its ceiling fan, will be quite comfortable. The master bath is well-designed, with a double-sink vanity topped by cultured marble, and a privacy door separating the vanity from commode and shower. A walk-in closet makes this the perfect dressing area– it is enormous, with plenty of room for storing every season of your clothing.
Across the great room from the master suite is the kitchen. In this home, the kitchen is not open to the great room – a bonus for those who don’t want guests to see dishes in the sink!
This kitchen is a showplace, with stainless steel appliances and a large island snack bar topped in a lovely granite. The maple cabinets are in a soft caramel color, and are castled – set at varying heights for visual interest. A built-in desk is a nice feature – you can keep your laptop there to reference recipes online, or keep an eye on homework. In one corner, a walk-in pantry offers lots of storage space. Frosted pendants illuminate the snack bar.
A brushed nickel chandelier lights the dining area. The floor here and in the kitchen, as well as in the foyer, is a unique composite tile. It has the look and convenience of ceramic flooring, with a softer feel. A wall of windows allows light into the dining area, and a nearby door leads to the poured concrete patio.
A short hall leads off the kitchen. Here you will find a third bedroom, this one with a walk-in closet. The laundry room also boasts that beautiful maple cabinetry, as well as a sink and hookups for your washer and dryer. The door to the two-car garage is here as well.
In addition to this comfortable villa home, two other models are available at the Villas at Palisades. The 2,135 square foot Rialto is priced at $198,500, and the 1,920 square foot Sierra is priced at $179,900. Savvy shoppers will recognize these well-equipped homes are being offered at about $93 per square foot – a tremendous value compared to similar homes in Sylvania.
