Phone proposal is a bad deal

3/17/2010

Phone companies in Ohio want to keep raising rates on basic landline phone service. Even worse, they want to be able to take longer to restore phone service after lines have gone dead.

Legislation before the General Assembly would have devastating effects on senior citizens and those on fixed incomes. Where do they think the extra money is going to come from?

Seniors do not need the added burdens of rising, prohibitive telephone costs and declining restoration of line service. The basic landline is a lifeline. It is how you call 911, the doctor, and your neighbor for help. It means life or death.
