Kynard makes Toledoans proud

8/12/2012

Congratulations Erik Kynard! You make Rogers High, Toledo, and Kansas State proud.

Even though I have never met Erik, I am very proud of him.

I want to express my gratitude for the series of articles in your paper by Jay Gast. They were very warming and interesting.

I appreciate the time that Jay spent on his vacation informing the residents of northwest Ohio of some insight of the Olympic Games. The Blade is to be commended for providing the space for these well-written articles.

I enjoyed reading Toledo Police detective and former University of Toledo basketball player Jay Gast's numerous columns regarding his visit to the 2012 London Olympic Games. Thank you. The details he provided about the competition, venues, athletes, fans, and security was very much appreciated. By the way Jay, "that stadium in Ann Arbor" you refer to in your column is called Michigan Stadium aka "The Big House." Enjoy your bowl game this year OSU fans.

The writer appealing to the Army Corps of Engineers and stories about Asian carp written by Matt Markey, Blade outdoors editor, makes me wonder if the battle isn't already lost for the Great Lakes. What is to stop any enemy of our country from transporting a bucket of these fish and dumping them into any lake of their choosing? And do you suppose that the Army Corps of Engineers already know the carp are there?
