I agree with the opinion of Toledo that columnist Keith Burris expressed in his Aug. 9 commentary, “What’s Grand Rapids got that we haven’t?”

My family and I relocated from Sioux City, Iowa, to Perrysburg in December, 2011, so I could help open Hollywood Casino Toledo. I am the casino’s director of planning and analysis.

My family was reluctant to move here, never having been to the area and reading statistics about crime and unemployment. However, we couldn’t be happier with our decision to become northwest Ohioans.

Toledo and the surrounding areas have so much to offer. My wife and I have two young daughters and are amazed at the huge number of events and activities that we can take them to.

The Toledo Zoo is awesome. Imagination Station, the Toledo Museum of Art, and public pools are much better facilities than the ones where we came from.

As people new to the area, we were forced to discover what’s happening around Toledo. I would be willing to bet that in the almost two years that we’ve been here, we have done more and seen more than a large number of lifers in this area.

We are proud to live here. Those who complain about this area don’t get what a community is.
