Why fly? Collins can ride rails
2/7/2014If Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins wants to economize on travel when he goes to Washington on city business, he could take a train from the station owned by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority (“Collins: City staff will use local airport; Mayor backs Toledo Express, considers new entry-point signs,” Jan. 16).
Taking the train in Toledo is inexpensive and includes free parking and proximity to downtown.
The money spent on going anywhere from Toledo Express Airport could fill a lot of potholes. A bus linking the airport with bus and train stations should be considered.

Collins lauded for smooth transition
I hope Toledoans have noticed what a smooth transition from the Mike Bell administration we have had. Mayor Collins brought in young, energetic, dedicated employees, and kept experienced ones to monitor and train these new people. There was no disruption of city services at a time when we could least afford it. Toledo is moving forward.
I’m glad I voted for Mayor Collins. I’m proud of our city. Things are better in Toledo.

Good move to drop UT mention
I was happy to read that Mayor Collins will promote Toledo on new entry-point signs. Granted, the University of Toledo is something for the city to be proud of, but promoting UT alone on these signs appeared to reflect former mayor Mike Bell’s personal support of the university.
I am a Bowling Green State University supporter, but I am certain that the City of Bowling Green would want to promote its identity, not just that of BGSU.

‘Glass City’ needs to be on signs
I’d like to see street signs in Toledo that say: “Glass City.” If Findlay can be called Flag City, Toledo can be called Glass City because of its glass heritage.
If Mayor Collins and the area’s glass companies get together, I am sure these signs can happen.
