Winter hike offered at Van Buren

The Third Annual "Cabin Fever Reliever" Winter Hike is set for Saturday, Feb. 9, at Van Buren State Park.There are two self-guided trails to explore. The Tenderfoot Hike is two miles with fairly even terrain and beautiful views of Van Buren Lake. The Frostbite Frolic Hike is a bit longer, with rolling terrain and views of the Rocky Ford Creek.

Hikers should meet at shelterhouse #3 off of Township Road 229, and hit the marked trails anytime between 10 and 11am. There will be chili cooking in a cast iron pot over the fire when hikers return, along with hot drinks, and a marshmallow roast. Naturalist Natalie Miller's winter tree and wildlife display will also be featured. Participants should wear appropriate winter clothing and footgear.
