St. Charles Mercy Hospital to get new leader Jan. 31

12/10/2004

Mercy Health Partners has hired a California man as president and chief executive officer of St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon.

David Ameen will take over on Jan. 31. He currently is president and chief executive officer of St. Joseph Health System of Greater Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Before his job there, he held executive leadership positions at St. Mary's Mercy Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.; Detroit Riverview Hospital, and Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, Mich.

He replaces Cathleen Nelson, who resigned in June to become president of United Health Partnership, a Toledo-based group of 15 northwest Ohio hospitals that work together on educational issues and share ways to improve revenue and patient care. She had been president of St. Charles since 1996.

Carol Whittaker, Mercy's vice president of nursing services, has been serving as interim president.
