BOWLING GREEN - The Wood County Health Department will offer flu shots to high-risk adults and children at a clinic on Jan. 11.

Loretta Maher, immunization nurse, said people are urged to make appointments by calling 419-352-8402, though walk-ins will be accepted as vaccine supplies allow from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

The department has about 400 adult doses and more than 200 pediatric doses for children 6 to 23 months old and those with high-risk medical conditions. Shots cost $10 for children or $20 for adults.

High-risk individuals are those 65 and older; age 2 to 64 with chronic medical conditions; age 6 months to 18 years old on aspirin therapy; pregnant women, and members of households with an infant under 6 months old. "We're still having senior citizens call and come in, so hopefully, we'll be able to get this vaccine to people who need it most," Ms. Maher said.
