West Nile death reported in northwest Ohio

A 71-year-old Hamler, Ohio man has died of West Nile virus, according to the Toledo-Lucas County health department.

Eldon Mahlman died on Sept. 21. His cause of death was reported today by Lucas County s bureau of vital statistics.

As of last week, there were 18 reported cases of West Nile virus in Ohio, four in Lucas County, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
