Wood County Hospital to begin $42M expansion

4/1/2008

BOWLING GREEN Wood County Hospital plans to start a $42 million expansion and renovation project today.

Officials will gather at the hospital entrance at 2:30 p.m. for a groundbreaking ceremony.

Spokesman Catharine Harned said the hospital is moving forward despite a referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot concerning a reverse of rezoning for 0.36 acres of hospital property on West Wooster Street to allow parking.

Nearby property owners petitioned for the referendum on the grounds that the parking lot would be disruptive, hurt property values, and create noise and safety problems.

The land involved in the contested zoning would provide 26 spaces of a planned 86-space lot, Ms. Harned said.
