Red Cross blood center breaks ground near UT
5/10/2008A groundbreaking ceremony was held yesterday for the American Red Cross regional blood distribution center near the University of Toledo s Health Science Campus.
It will be in the former Medical University of Ohio Foundation building off Arlington Avenue at 1111 Research Drive, with an addition built onto that structure.
The center will replace the American Red Cross Blood Services, Western Lake Erie Region headquarters at 2275 Collingwood Blvd.
UT sold the site of more than three acres to the Red Cross in November for $75,000 per acre.
