Renewable fuel to power collegiate Grand Prix

BOWLING GREEN A Bowling Green State University parking lot will be converted this weekend into a racing track to promote renewable energy.

The university s fourth annual Grand Prix will get under way at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Lot N next to Memorial Hall and Jerome Library. The track opens at 11 a.m.

The race features student drivers and crews who race go-karts with renewable, ethanol-based E-85 fuel. Practice and qualifying rounds will precede the main event of 75 laps on the BGSU Intercollegiate Speedway for a 15-mile race.

Eight teams are entered: seven from BGSU and one from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich.
