Wood County to offer free health screenings

BOWLING GREEN -- As part of Minority Health Month, the Wood County Health District is offering two events featuring free health screenings and education about a number of diseases.

Tuesday's event is set for 1 to 7 p.m. in Bowling Green, and will feature free health screenings including total cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, waist circumference, and body-mass index measurements.

In addition, the event will feature education on early detection and prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. No appointments are needed.

The health district will host a similar event April 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northwood Municipal Building at 6000 Wales Rd.

No appointments are required. Funding for both feature free health screenings, education, and take-home materials, including glucometers and test strips to individuals who are in need of them. Funding is provided by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.
