A documentary film detailing the child-obesity crisis in the United States will be screened later this month by a coalition of public agencies and business leaders that hope to promote healthier living.

Children in Crisis, one of four installments in the HBO series Weight of the Nation, will be shown at 6 p.m. on July 25 in Panther Hall at the Owens Corning headquarters complex in Toledo.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion panel with members of the Live Well Greater Toledo consortium and an opportunity to sign up for "action groups" that will work to combat youth obesity.

The event is part of an ongoing effort by Live Well to encourage healthy living through policy changes and programs. The main focus is on creating more spaces for physical activity and improving access to healthy foods.

"We believe this is very, very important as a quality of life issue for the city of Toledo," said Toledo mayor Mike Bell, a member of the collaborative. Live Well also includes the YMCA of Greater Toledo, the University of Toledo, the Toledo Community Foundation, the United Way of Greater Toledo, Lucas County Department of Job and Family Services, ProMedica, and Toledo Public Schools, among others.
