St. Joseph Church in Maumee donated 240 hygiene packs to Dr. Richard Paat and a 38-person team going to La Esperanza in Honduras from March 10-17. The hygiene packs, which will be given to children, include toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, facial tissues, combs, and washcloths.

“It is really a nice gift for them, and it shows them someone in Toledo cares for them,” Dr. Paat said. “Think about a mom that just wants their child to be clean. They need soap for that.”

Dr. Paat, an internal medicine physician in Maumee, will lead the group on his 51st mission trip. The team will include 22 University of Toledo students.

The group will go through the mountains and visit five villages, giving people medical attention that they might never receive otherwise, Dr. Paat said, noting people will line up in the villages to receive medical attention.
