12/28/2000

Rick Coronado, an electrician with Service Electric Co., removes fencing around Comstock Park in Adrian, where the Millennium Project sculptures, wrapped in plastic are located. Mr. Coronado worked on the lighting portion of the project yesterday. The Lenawee Council for the Visual Arts began the Millennium Project in June, 1999, as a method to celebrate the year 2000 by creating scultptures based on Lenawee County's history.

Seven columns consisting of 280 individual panels were made to illustrate people, places, and events in agriculture, education, government, industry, military, religion, and transportation.

The display has been shown at several locations in the county throughout the year before arriving at Comstock Park, the sculptures' permanent home. Comstock Park will be renamed Millennium Park during a dedication ceremony that is schedule for 3 p.m. Sunday.
