NORTH ADAMS, Mich. - Tempers flared at a Monday night North Adams-Jerome school board meeting, where a local woman was accused of pushing a teacher.

Carrie Adams, 41, said she was at the meeting in support of the local high school principal when she decided to leave because other parents were becoming unruly. Mrs. Adams said she did not push teacher Mary Kloeckner but tried to get around her when the woman lost her footing and fell.

Michigan State Police were called to the meeting and are investigating the incident, Sgt. William Kanouse said. Three people claimed that Mrs. Adams physically confronted them after she became upset, he said, adding that no charges have been filed.

Mrs. Adams is facing involuntary manslaughter charges for the death of a 7-month-old baby who died shortly after being in her care. The medical examiner ruled the cause of the baby's death was shaken-baby syndrome.
