60 motorists stopped in Michigan crackdown

4/7/2001

ADRIAN - Law enforcement officers made 60 traffic stops during an aggressive traffic enforcement detail on Ridge Highway in Macon Township Tuesday.

Officers from the Adrian State Police post, Lenawee County Sheriff's Department, and the state's Motor Carrier Division targeted speeders, aggressive drivers, and seat belt and child restraint violators. The detail, from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., focused on Ridge Highway because of a high number of traffic problems and crashes.

During the detail, officers responded to a two-car personal injury accident that occurred after a motorist fell asleep at the wheel. Both drivers were taken to Herrick Memorial Hospital.
