Retired Adrian teacher to be honored by peers

5/4/2001

ADRIAN - A recently retired Adrian Public Schools teacher will be honored by the Michigan Education Association today for advancing minority rights.

Kenneth Hamlin will receive the Connie Jackson Award, named for a former member of the association who was the key leader in the organization's change toward revising policies regarding minority and women's rights.

Mr. Hamlin was chosen for the award based on his actions about 20 years ago not to seek re-election for a board seat so it could be declared a minority seat.
