Michigan begins hearings on election-related issues

1/10/2013

ADRIAN - Lenawee County will host the first in a series of statewide hearings dealing with election-related issues.

The House Elections/Campaign Reform Task Force will visit the city today for the meeting to discuss several issues, said State Rep. Doug Spade (D., Adrian), who co-chairs the committee.

They include whether the state should adopt a single type of voting system for all jurisdictions, whether changes should be made to the number of times a year elections can be held, and what safeguards should be put in place to prevent discrimination at the polls.

The hearing will be at 6 p.m. in Classroom 1 at the Lenawee Vo-Tech Center.
