ADRIAN - A suspect in the July shooting of a Lenawee County sheriff's deputy was in custody at the county jail following his transfer yesterday from a jail in Findlay.

Dane Langstaff, 28, of no permanent address, is scheduled to appear before a magistrate today, with a preliminary exam scheduled for Monday in Lenawee County District Court.

Langstaff is being held on charges of assault with intent to murder, fleeing and eluding, and various firearm-related charges. He is a suspect in the July 10 incident in an Ogden Township church, when two men overpowered a sheriff's deputy, and shot another deputy while fleeing.

Deputy Kirk June was shot in the right shoulder while pursuing the burglary suspects in his patrol vehicle. Another deputy, Jeff Johnson, was ambushed by another man who disarmed him at gunpoint.

The men handcuffed the deputy before driving away.
