Lenawee County agencies to target drunken drivers

7/5/2002

ADRIAN — Law enforcement agencies in Lenawee County will be on the lookout for drunken drivers during a targeted enforcement period July 12 and 13.

As part of the statewide initiative “You Drink & Drive. You Lose,” law enforcement agencies are stepping up enforcement on the roads with the goal of stopping and arresting drunk and impaired drivers.

Nearly 40 percent of fatal crashes on Michigan roadways involve alcohol, according to the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning.

Through statewide weekly enforcement, officers will be on patrol to enforce zero tolerance when it comes to drunk or impaired motorists.

The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning provided Lenawee County with $15,780 to support increased police patrols on Michigan roadways. The next round of enforcement in the county will be Aug. 30-31.
