Blissfield voters to decide on athletic-complex funds

BLISSFIELD — Blissfield Public School officials hope to upgrade the district's athletic complex if voters approve a 1-mill bond issue during a special election Monday.

Blissfield voters will be asked to approve the two-year issue to fund work at the complex, which is behind the middle school. The project would include a soccer field, an eight-lane track, a press box, and a utility building with rest rooms, concessions, and storage. The facility would be open for public use as well.

The millage would raise about $400,000 to be added to the $225,000 that has been raised by the Blissfield Foundation for Educational Excellence. The project will cost in excess of $600,000.

Owners of a home with a market value of $100,000 would pay an additional $50 a year. A mill is $1 for every $1,000 of a property's assessed value.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
