Rome Township man pleads guilty in assault

10/3/2002

ADRIAN - A Rome Township man accused of holding police at bay for four hours July 23 pleaded guilty in Lenawee County Circuit Court yesterday to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

Bruce Lynn Murray, 44, was arrested after a standoff with police who had responded to a domestic violence complaint at his home. He was accused of shooting at and then clubbing his girlfriend in their Forrister Road home.

Murray had pleaded guilty Aug. 21 only to have the plea rejected by Judge Harvey Koselka, who said it was insincere. Two counts of assault with intent to murder and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony will be dismissed at his Nov. 5 sentencing.
