Pharmacy robbery linked to earlier ones

12/3/2002

ADRIAN - Lenawee County authorities said yesterday they believe a weekend break-in at the Addison Pharmacy probably is connected to a series of recent pharmacy break-ins in Lenawee and Hillsdale counties.

The latest incident occurred at 5 a.m. Saturday. A suspect or suspects entered through two locked doors at the East Main Street pharmacy in Addison. Lenawee County sheriff's Detective Gary Ward said unknown amounts of Vicodin, Viagra, and Tylenol III were taken.

An alarm in the business was activated, but Detective Ward said the suspects had gone when deputies arrived.

Detective Ward said pharmacy officials are conducting an inventory to determine their exact loss. In the meantime, sheriff's officials will speak with authorities in Blissfield and Adrian in Lenawee County, where someone tried unsuccessfully last week to enter pharmacies. Those attempts are believed to be linked, along with three similar pharmacy break-ins in Hillsdale County in the last several months.
