Michigan extends time for election-reform input

7/18/2003

The deadline for public comment has been extended to the end of the month.

The plan is required under the Help America Vote Act and can be viewed online at www.michigan.gov/sos.

Michigan is in line to receive about $45 million in funding through the act, giving state officials the opportunity to replace outdated voting equipment and ensure voters with disabilities have access at the polls. Improvements also will benefit voters living outside the country.

Once the public comment period ends July 31, the plan will be revised as necessary and submitted for publication in the Federal Register.
