ADRIAN — The state's Family Independence Agency has received a $676,761 federal grant for the Adrian Training School, a residential youth facility, where the money will be used to increase vocational and educational services.

The money will benefit educational, vocational, and work-force preparation programs for the facility's female residents.

The Adrian school provides residential care and services for 60 girls and 40 boys.

Agency Director Nannette Bowler said one goal is to raise the reading levels for the training school residents, who are referred to the facility by the juvenile justice system.
