Township residents given Adrian annexation choice

11/24/2003

ADRIAN — After holding public hearings for both Adrian and Adrian Charter Township residents, officials in both communities have agreed to offer property owners who were recently annexed into the city the opportunity to return to the township.

Under the agreement, property owners will be able to choose to go back to the township for a period of just under 10 years. Properties are eligible if they are not connected to city water services and have not changed ownership since January, when the annexation of the properties became official.

The agreement becomes void if the property changes hands or if the owner requests city services during the next 10 years. Under these circumstances, the properties will automatically transfer back to the city.
