Lenawee County ends 2005 with $1M surplus

2/13/2006

ADRIAN Despite tough economic conditions, Lenawee County s Board of Commissioners reported a budget surplus of nearly $1 million at the end of 2005.

Revenue was listed at $24.4 million and expenses at $23.5 million in an unaudited report filed by the board s ways and means committee.

Commissioners said higher tax collections and a doubling of earned interest were the principal reasons for the surplus.

The commissioners said a final audit report on last year s earnings will be completed this summer.
