ADRIAN The Lenawee County Sheriff s Office is investigating the death of one of its jail inmates.

Yolanda Flores, 45, of Adrian, was found unresponsive in the isolation-observance room of the jail about 11 a.m. Wednesday by a corrections officer who was conducting routine rounds, Sheriff Larry Richardson said.

A nurse at the jail attempted to revive Ms. Flores without success. She was pronounced dead about 11:45 a.m. by a deputy medical examiner.

An autopsy is to be conducted by the Lenawee County Medical Examiner s Office, but it could take up to 12 weeks for the results of toxicology tests, the sheriff said.

Ms. Flores was booked into the jail about 5 p.m. Monday on two felony counts of passing bad checks.

The sheriff said Ms. Flores had an illness of which the staff was aware, but which he would not disclose. That was part of the reason Ms. Flores was being held in the isolation-observance room, which is monitored via video camera.
