7/5/2008

Monday is the last day to register to vote in Michigan s Aug. 5 primary election.

The primary ballot may include local and state offices, judicial, legislative and congressional races, Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land said.

Registration forms can be found online, at a branch office, or at a local clerk s office. Voters must be U.S. citizens, Michigan residents, and at least 18 years old by election day.

They must also reside in the city or township in which they register.

The mail-in registration form is on the Department of State Web site at www.michigan.gov/sos.

All first-time voters who register through the mail are required to vote in person for this election, unless they hand-deliver the application to a local clerk, or are disabled, more than 60 years of age, or currently overseas. Voters will be asked to present photo identification at the polls.
