The End Zone: UM's pattern of inconsistencies

When it comes to the Michigan Wolverines, you know what you ve got:
• A team more vulnerable than most when its top quarterback gets hurt a top QB who himself is battling inconsistencies.
• A maddening pattern of turnovers.
• Special teams units that often put the Wolverines in untenable positions.
• A defense that, despite its many returning starters, gives up huge passing yards and misses tackles, especially on third downs.
• A coach who smartly inserted Brandon Minor at tailback, but has few other moves he could or would make.
This is what the Wolverines and coach Rich Rodriguez have shown us through seven games a recipe for their disastrous 2-5 start.
Despite UM s obvious shortcomings, there is a sense among some players and media that this team still has a run in it, that a win over rival Michigan State could propel the Wolverines into a lengthy winning streak.
I ve gone from believing all season the Wolverines can t be THIS bad to thinking they just aren t very good.
Maybe UM will change my mind before it plays the season-ender at Ohio State. Recent history predicts otherwise.
