ANN ARBOR DeShawn Sims led Michigan with 19 points off the bench, the Wolverines drained 113-pointers and UM cruised to an 81-55 victory over Saginaw Valley State in an exhibition game last night.

Sims shot 6-of-8 from the floor and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds in 27 minutes. Manny Harris, the Wolverines leading scorer from a year ago and preseason All-Big Ten pick, scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half.

The Wolverines held a slim 34-30 lead at the break and would ve trailed had it not been for their 7-of-11 effort from 3-point land. One of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country last year, UM finished 11-of-24 (45.8 percent) from beyond the arc.

Freshman Stu Douglass started at guard and drilled 3-of-5 3-pointers for nine points. He led all players with six assists.

Saginaw s Adam Gries, a Fremont Ross graduate, had eight points. The Cardinals were led by Lawrence Ross, with 21 points.
